When it comes to measuring ingredients when cooking, I am pretty cavalier and eyeball pretty much everything. When it comes to cocktails, I am a very careful measurer. So few ingredients, in such small amounts, makes it easy to screw up.
Jiggers. This is a very common way to measure for cocktails. Each jigger holds a different amount and the amount is stamped onto the side so there is no worry of it washing off over time. I have used jiggers for a long time but do not like that I had to get right up to the top of the bowl to get an exact measurement, I often over-poured. Then one day Husband brought home a little cup that changed everything.
I had asked him to pop into Sur La Table and see if they had something that measured liquid teaspoons and tablespoons. He was not sure which I wanted so bought them both, and while I do use the clear cup from time to time, the stainless one is in constant use.
