I am now using Ravelry links for patterns. Ravelry no longer has a wait list and I feel it is safe to assume that anyone reading this here blog has a Ravelry account. No? What are you waiting for? All the cool kids are doing it.
This is what I pulled off the shelf yesterday morning
This is what I had last night
This is what I have this afternoon.
Dragon Fibers, 4 ounces of BFL, 550 yards, Innocent.
This should be just the right yardage for a smaller Gossamer Stars. It is a present for Grandma, and she is the smaller variety Grandma, so a little shorter is appropriate.
This was originally going to be vacation knitting. The USPS changed that plan. The gift I sent for Grandma’s birthday arrived in many more pieces than what I had packed in the box. So I feel the need to bring this to her when I see her. I will only have about a month for the knitting. Everything else is going to have to wait.
While I am waiting for the shawl yarn to dry I will be finishing up sock #1. Yes, you are correct, I had already finished sock #1. As it turns out there was not enough yarn for two socks of the same size and I am pretty sure the recipient has two feet that are mostly the same size, so I ripped. I ripped it back until the leg was 3 inches and then started right in on the heel flap. So far so good. I still love the yarn. UPDATE: Even with a shorter leg the yardage would have been a wee bit short. So sock #1 is frogged again. The yarn has been reskeined, soaked and is now out on the deck keeping Innocent company while waiting for the sun to appear.
Now I think I will bring Icarus for vacation knitting. The yarn has been ordered and is on the way. That will probably be some of the last yarn I order. There was not time to spin enough yarn for one shawl while feverishly knitting on another, with the same dead line for both. So I bought yarn. I love to spin so much and I am able to spin quickly, so there is no need to buy yarn. Just rovings. Beautiful hand dyed rovings.
You all know I love Dragon fibers and Fleece Artist. Who else is out there dyeing breathtaking stuff?
I started a magazine article last night. It is my first try at that sort of thing, so far so good.
