This is how my brain has been working lately. I have an idea for a blog post. I type it up,take some pictures, upload the pics to flicker and plan to post the next day. The next day comes and goes. The knitting continues and when I have the time to post, my last post is outdated. I can not just post anyway, because I do not have new pictures, and it is dark. It is a little loop that has been happening for a couple of weeks. Time to break out, show you what I've got and not even try to play catch up.
Tuesday evening, Ravelry brought together a small group of Knitter’s from Edmonds. We met in the bar of a restaurant situated above the water. We had front row seats for a beautiful sunset. 7 of us sat and knit and ate and drank and knit. There was chit chat and a getting to know each other sort of feeling. It was very nice and I can not wait to do it again.
For so long I have been wanting to make some friends outside of Girl Scouts. While it is too early to tell, this group has to potential to turn into a group of friends. It is all very exciting.
On top of it all I was able to do this.
This is the luxury battturned into a sock. I am amazed that I knit the entire leg of a sock while chit chatting. I really like the way it is knitting up. I thought about turning them into socks for Husband. Then decided, no. There may be enough yarn, but I am not sure, and I am not up for another round of “when will the yarn run out.”
While I finished my first pair of handspun socks at least two months ago, I have not worn then, until now.
They are as soft and squishy as I had hoped. It is a good way to kick off pre-vacation.
The time for flip-flopping about vacation knitting has passed. Here is what is hitting the road with me. Its all packed up and ready to go.
Each zippy contains the yarn, pattern (if needed), needles and markers.
First up,Icarus.
The yarn is Knit Picks Gloss (?) in a deep purple color. This will be my knitting when I am relaxing with my thoughts, under a tree, while the rest of the crew is out hiking and working up a sweat. I thought it would be a good idea to get the shawl started, markers placed and a feel for the pattern before I was in the car. This is what happened during Oldest Daughter's orthodontist appointment.
Next we have Handspun Socks .2. This is the mindless, portable knitting that is so necessary while traveling. The yarn is what became of the luxury batt I was spinning last week.
I had finished Morning Surf Scarf (I need to photograph and post that lovely scarf!) and grabbed this as I walked out the door to Stitch & Bitch, you have already seen that progress.
Lastly, Flap Top Mittens for Oldest Daughter.
The yarn is Swoon and the colors are very much in her happy place.
I just love that picture.
There is a sweet yarn shop in Grandma’s town and I hope to be able to pick up some local treasures while there. If any other yarnie type opportunities present themselves you can bet I will be all over it.
Flicker has just informed me that my 200 limit has been reached. Bummer, time to pay the piper.
I am not sure if I will be posting from the road. Subscribe to RSS and you will be the first to know.
