You may recall, I frogged the Johnny Jump Up socks and decided to turn it into a scarf. I had a vague idea of the final product, but that is all. I had not intended to knit on it until July, the yarn was reskeined and sitting on display. Then the new Spin-off arrived in the mailbox. Wow! What a great issue. One of the articles, 1 scarf 10 Ways, convinced me that this pattern was perfect for Mom’s Birthday Scarf. I cast on one, two, three, four, fives times before I got it right. There were needle size issues, and scarf width issues and me not being able to read a pattern issues. Finally I got it right.
It is starting out great, she is going to love it.
In the category of, Very Happy News. I found the perfect, and I mean perfect fiber for Grandma’s shawl. I will provide all the details when there is enough light outside to take a picture. It really is perfect.
While waiting for Friday and a trip to the LYS, Bob was calling my name. I grabbed a braid of Spook and spun up some lace weight. This is actually the second 4 ounces of 8 ounces that was purchased last fall. It will make a nice Halloween scarf someday. No hurries. Last night after the yarn took a soak I laid it on the deck rail the dry. It was a sunny clear evening, perfect for yarn drying. When the wind came up we retreated inside. This morning I woke to this.
All the shiny surfaces do not mean I have a fondness for shellac, it was raining. When I went out to retrieve the soggy skein I was surprised by how not soggy it was.
Yeah, it was wet, but not soaked. The wool did not absorb the rain, I could barely squeeze out any water. I hope that means I spun it up just right.
