Now playing on the needles are the Concertina Socks. I am knitting the lace pattern down the front only, leaving the back in a fancy rib. After a day and almost a whole sock I realize that doing the rib on the back is way more time consuming than doing the pattern twice. I do however like the look of the ribbed back.
This is a new yarn for me, one that was a Skein Of The Month prize. Araucania Ranco, wool/nylon, color 110. The label lists a size 3 needle. No way, 1’s or 2’s depending on how you knit. Being a little tight, in oh so many ways, I am using a 2. The yarn feels like a regular wool/nylon. The pattern is wonderful. I just love how the little lace bellows are appearing. While there is no hurry to finish this project, I can not wait to take the final photo of the socks snuggling up with my concertina.
I am fairly certain I will cast on a shawl to work on over the holidays. I have a couple skeins of a mossy colored Fleece Artist that want to become a Luna Moth. The holidays bring an unanticipated and arduous houseguest. Passing the time with a shawl will be good. Not to mention the cookies and vodka.
