Seriously. Today, for the very first time, the mail was not delivered. I live a few feet above sea level, a few blocks from the beach, on the west coast. Come on people, enough.
A couple of projects to type about. First up is the Concertina Socks. As I began the pattern on the second sock I realized I had knit the first one all wrong. Whoops. Oh well, it turned out fine so I proceeded to knit the second one to match the first. I will do it the right way with a future pair.
The pattern is fun, the yarn, not so much. My hands have been rough and I thought it was the weather, but it is not the weather, it is the yarn. This yarn is like knitting with wool meant for carpets. My hands are so torn up I can not spin. My dilemma is that I am so close to being done.
I am onto the foot of the second sock. The foot that is so fast and easy. The foot that is mostly knit stitches, just a couple of purls down each side. The foot that is probably a few short hours away from the finish. But I want to spin and I can not knit these socks and spin. Should I power through and be done? I am afraid if I set them aside it will be weeks before I pick them back up again. I hate having unfinished projects, they eat away at my soul Damn yarn.
Speaking of unfinished projects. Here is the beginning of the Sock Yarn Blanket.
This project will take many moons to complete. Originally I thought it would take years. I thought I would be adding to the blanket as socks were finished. As it turns out, each square takes so little yarn, and I have so many leftover socks balls, that I can knit for a very long time before I run out. The squares are perfect movie knitting.
As I was grabbing yarn for the current square I realized that I need a system. I need to collect all leftover balls into one container. As a square is knit the yarn will be moved into a second container. Once the first container is empty I will start over. This way I am sure to use all colors once before I go back for seconds, and thirds and ... As I finish a pair of socks I will add the ends into the bucket in progress. I think this will work. I also think it will take a long time to finish
