Here we are at Day 6 of the Tour De Fleece. This coincides with Day 6 of The Tour De France. While I have no idea what is happening in the cycling world, I am quite familiar with the wheel spinning in my living room. This week has been all about spinning. July 4th marked the beginning of this little adventure and on that day I had a bag of fiber that looked like this.
This is a Well Heeled Sock Batt from Dragon Fibers and it was destined to be the first leg of my tour. Today it was finished. 350 yards of perfectly balanced 3-ply sock.
I am disappointed that the bright colors faded together, but I still love the finished product. While plying this yarn I was concentrating very hard to be gentle and not add too much twist. Over plying has been a problem for me lately, but this turned out just right. Came off of the niddy noddy perfectly balanced, soft and elastic.
The daily spinning is hard on the hands, but like the cyclers over there in France, I will push through the pain and spin again tomorrow. Tomorrow is for alpaca. My first alpaca. It is all pre-drafted and ready to go. The pre-drafting showed me how messy alpaca can be. I will be taking the wheel out onto the deck.
Wow - wonderful yarn! I'll be your cheerleader over here -- go go go! :)

Love those sherbety colors! I was spinning the fiber I had in a similar colorway while at work, everyone kept saying, "is that cotton candy?". Sure, have a taste...
