Breathing deep with the daily construction issues. Drinking in the evening. That should get me through a couple of weeks.
This morning Husband slipped on a pair of socks (handknit of course) and announced that they have a hole. A quick check of Ravelry tells me that these socks are more than 2 years old. First, I love that I have that sort of knowledge at my fingertips. Second, 2 years for a pair of constantly worn socks means that I will use that yarn again. Shibui.
A few weeks ago I finished a Wildflowers Scarf.
It was a great knit. Just the sort of calming thing needed while saws were going off around me. I think the yarn is Miss Babs, Oriental Poppies. The scarf has not been blocked. No hurry, this will be a spring scarf.
I have also been working on a request from Youngest Son.
I do not remember who made the yarn, but the colorway is Frankensocks. As soon as it came in to the house Youngest Son asked if I would make something for him. Eventually he requested a neck warmer. A snug neck warmer. I tried, and then tried again, to make a snug neck warmer that would also fit over his head, no luck. So I cast on a third time and will need to add snaps (no buttons) or some other sort of closure. The neck warmer took no yarn at all, so I asked if he would like a pair of fingerless mitts to match. Duh! The set should be done this weekend.
Finally there is this.
This yarn has been knit and reknit more times than I can clearly remember. It began as a large shawl with square lace patterns. I am not able to knit square lace patterns and breathe at the same time. It was ripped. Then there was another project that eludes me. From there I tried Bridgewater, but the yarn does not want to be garter, it wants to be stockinette. So I find myself giving Wandering the Moor a shot. I hope this is the pattern that works. I have more than twice as much yarn as the pattern calls for, and I am using a smaller needle than the pattern calls for, so I anticipate adding a few repeats to get a nice big, beach worthy shawl. Did I mention that it can be blocked with straight edges? I am SO anti pointy edges at the moment. Just the thought of a straight blocked shawl in enough to keep me moving forward.
P.S. I think I may need to light a scented candle to cover up the demolished/rotted wood smell in the house.
With the stress of remodeling I'd have to knit socks - only because I like to knit them tightly and tight is all I'd be able to manage.
I love both Bridgewater and Wandering the Moor, they're both in my queue or faves.
Will be curious to see how blocking points out goes on my Birnam Wood! It's still in the sink so it will be a couple more days before I have finished photos.
