I had to set Harmonia's Rings Cowl aside for a bit while I played with jars.
While I have already put up more pickles this year than last, we did run out in the spring, AND I am also supplying Oldest Son's household with pickles. We needed more. 6 pounds of cucumbers turned in to 5 quarts and 1 pint of Spicy Dill Pickles. This should get us through the year. I can always cut off Oldest Son's supply if need be.
<the jars are already on the shelf, pretend there is a pretty picture here>
I used the Favorite Pickle Recipe from Small Batch Preserving and added 1/2 teaspoon of red hot pepper flakes to the bottom of each jar. Wow are these good pickles. WAY better that the ones I made last year.
There is one picture to share.
A bouquet only a canner (and her foodie husband) could love.
I have a few jars of pickles to put up this week. Sadly the volunteer plant in my veggie plot that I thought was dill is fennel.
