With Quills at the halfway point I decided to return to Sivia's cowl. Last night I knit until it was time to add beads. I am not at all sure what I am knitting is going to look like the finished picture.
It seems WAY too long. I thought about taking it off the needles, to see what it looks like in a relaxed state, but I am afraid I will screw up the mobius thing when I try to put it back on the needles. To top it off I have begun to worry about having enough yarn. I hate that feeling. It is almost done, I can always take out the last repeat if needed. Right now it is sitting in the WIP basket until I can get out and pick up beads.
I have also been working on some socks. A few months ago a sock kit came in to the house. Oldest Daughter really liked it and asked if I would make the socks for her. OK. The pattern began with a cuff that is knit sideways, joined, and then the leg is knit down from there. I did that and the results were not good. The cuff rolled in unexpected places. It seemed more a result of the stitch pattern then a blocking issue. I ripped it out and began again with a different cuff. After a couple of inches, I did not like that one either. The yarn was knitting up in a way I did not like.
Oldest Daughter picked out a new yarn and I heavily modified the pattern.
In the end, the sock bears little resemblance to the kit that first entered the house. I have taken to calling it Spirited Cherries.
Socks and a cowl read quickly looks like scowl. Scowl would be a good name for a pattern for socks or a cowl.

Will be intrigued to see the finished cowl.
You may have inspired me to rip out a pair of not-so-inspiring socks.
