where did last week go? Plenty was accomplished, but begining the second week of March feels like a bit of time travel.
This week I finished spinning for March's handspun socks.
Southern Cross Fibre- colorway Carried Away - 110 grams Polwarth - 310 yards 3-ply sock. I am SO ready to get these socks on the needles, but I am waiting for a shipment of commercial yarn that I will be using for the cuffs, heels and toes. I plan on using a light blue to show off the bits of blue in the yarn and lighten up the finished socks.
Blue Beauty is growing.
Most of the progress was made while listening to a presentation from Michele of Earthues. WOW did I learn a lot about natural dyes, where they come from, and how it differs around the world. The whole milking of the sea snails for purple dye astounds me.
Then there is the PINK sock.
Doesn't this look funny? The pattern is Porifera (rl) from MimKnits. The yarn is Hazel Knits. Normally I am anti k2, p2 rib, but I can deal with it on a sock. I wish everything I owned was this color.
The pink sock is cute, but I'm still stuck on milking sea snails.....

Aren't those socks fun? I knit up a test for Mim for her book a year plus now ago. Wished I had gotten to keep em......

Nice work with the spinning! And I love the scarf. Not a pink fan myself, but that leaves more for you!

The socks are so gorgeous! It's definitely fun to wear those especially for the winter season. I also love knitting for my loved ones especially when I've got nothing to do at home sometimes. For today's project, I'm also going to do two pairs of knitted-socks for my friends. I'm going to buy brown sheep yarn and the pink one at the stores. And I'm excited for this crafting project again!
