I normally keep a roll of skinny painters tape in my desk drawer to use for labeling Weck jars. Last night I opened the drawer and found no painters tape, then I remembered that I had used it for actual painting. This time of year the spiders* are moving, so there was no way I was going to walk into the garage at night for more blue tape. I did have some regular old everyday Scotch tape in my drawer so gave that a try. Turns out I like Scotch Tape even more than the blue tape, it just looks better. Will it become impossible to peel up after a year of sitting on the shelf? I hope not, but will keep you posted.
*Spiders. I grew up in Southern California, home to Black Widows, so a healthy fear of spiders was installed in me at an early age. 30 years later I moved to Seattle and was horrified, pee my pants horrified at the spiders in my house. Officially known as Gigantic European House Spiders, they happen to be one of the fastest land spiders in the world. And they are indeed big.
How big? Big enough that squishing them on the wall is not an option. Big enough that when you try to suck them up with the vacuum cleaner, they hold tight. Big enough that they do not fit under a drinking glass to be dealt moves outside. Big enough so that if you stamp your foot next to them to make then run away, they just just charge you. August/September the spiders stop eating and do their best find a mate, that is when you are likely to find them scurrying across the floor, or perched on a wall. No late night trips to the garage for me.
you could put a leash on that thing!
